Looking back at the "yesterday" of the development of the Internet of Things, david moses said that since the concept of the Internet of Things was put forward at the beginning of this century, it has been quickly recognized around the world and has become the core driving force of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. "The Internet of Things industry is called the third wave of the development of the world information industry after computers and the Internet, which has profoundly changed the traditional industrial form and people’s lifestyle, spawned a large number of new technologies, new products and new models, and triggered a global wave of digital economy."
In China, in December 2018, the Central Economic Work Conference put forward the concept of new infrastructure for the first time, emphasizing the need to "accelerate the pace of 5G commercialization and strengthen the construction of new infrastructure such as artificial intelligence, industrial Internet and Internet of Things". David moses believes that the Internet of Things, as a highly integrated and comprehensive application of the new generation of information technology, is accelerating its transformation into real productive forces under the wave of new infrastructure, and has become the infrastructure and key element to reshape the mode of production organization and promote social development and progress.
Today, driven by the wave of new infrastructure, the development of China’s Internet of Things industry is ushered in a period of strategic opportunities. Focusing on the three application fields of supply side, demand side and smart city, the integrated application of Internet of Things and vertical industry is deepening, and the coverage scenarios are becoming wider and wider.
David moses, for example, said that the current application of the Internet of Things in the industrial field is mainly reflected in two aspects: networked sensors realize intelligent production. Through networked sensors, enterprises can dynamically perceive the status of production equipment, raw materials and personnel, realize intelligent decision-making and dynamic optimization of production process, significantly improve the production efficiency of the whole process, improve quality and reduce costs; Realize the transformation of enterprise service. Using the massive real-time data obtained by sensors, combined with the technologies of big data analysis and artificial intelligence on the cloud platform side, it provides services such as predictive maintenance and performance optimization to realize the service transformation of enterprises.
Referring to the future development, david moses said that while the new infrastructure will bring development opportunities to the Internet of Things industry, the industrial ecological competition will become increasingly fierce, which will bring many challenges. First, the core basic ability is still weak, and the industrial ecological competitiveness is insufficient. Second, there is a lack of integration and the guidance of leading enterprises, and the industrial chain is not cooperative. Third, the relevant standard system is still not perfect. Fourth, the integration of the Internet of Things and the industry needs to be further deepened. Fifth, the form of network and information security is still grim.
How to seize opportunities and meet challenges? David moses pointed out that it is the key to build a sustainable Internet of Things+new industrial system around the supply side and demand side, and to drive the coordinated development of the Internet of Things industry. "We must simultaneously promote the Internet of Things network construction, strengthen the research on Internet of Things standards and technologies, enhance the breadth and depth of Internet of Things applications, build a high-quality industrial development system, and establish and improve the Internet of Things security system to promote the comprehensive, healthy and rapid development of the Internet of Things industry."
