Farmers have been misdiagnosed as AIDS for 10 years, and their wives are separated.

Yang Shoufa lives in his brother’s house where his family goes out to do business. Because he "feels that he has AIDS", he has never lived in a main house or a partial house, and he has never used his brother’s kitchen.

On September 5, 2012, when Yang Shoufa was in the First People’s Hospital of Nanyang City, he inadvertently learned for the first time that he was not an AIDS patient.

According to a diagnosis, Yang Shoufa was first diagnosed with HIV on July 15th, 2004, and the diagnosis unit was zhenping county Health and Epidemic Prevention Station (now CDC).

Fate played a cruel joke on Yang Shoufa. In June 2004, Yang Shoufa, a 40-year-old farmer from zhenping county, Henan Province, was diagnosed as AIDS by the county CDC. In his words, from then on, "I was ruthlessly thrown into hell and lived in a world that was taboo and far away from the world like plague." Later, his wife divorced him and his children went away with his wife. Zhenping county Health Bureau reported in November 2015 that Yang Shoufa’s HIV antibody screening result was negative. However, half a year later, Yang Shoufa, who was once "born as a death row", has not yet waited for a statement.

  "What’s your disease?"

On May 10, 2016, Yang Shoufa made his experience into a painting with white characters on a red background, and he planned to reflect the situation again. Inkjet said that being misdiagnosed as AIDS, his life "has undergone earth-shaking changes."

Yang Shoufa is 53 years old, a native of Silizhuang Village, suburban township, zhenping county, and graduated from primary school. After they got married in 1985, they successively gave birth to a daughter and two men with their wives, and worked on construction sites during farming and slack seasons. Before being misdiagnosed as AIDS, Yang Shoufa also bought a stone crusher, which was later sold because of the bad market. "Why do you make money?" Yang Shoufa recalled that although he was not rich at that time, he was happy.

Yang Shoufa recalled that at the end of 2003, Hu Mingdao, a village doctor, informed the health survey that he also went to the north of the village to draw blood. A few months later, Hu Mingdao went to his house and said, "What disease are you?". Because there were many AIDS cases in the village, there were repeated low-grade fever at that time. Yang Shoufa had no doubt, only felt weak all over, "I want to die."

Hu Ming Dow said that around 1992, zhenping county sold a lot of "black blood", so many villagers were infected with AIDS; At the end of 2003, when AIDS was screened, there was a policy, which village screened out more than 20, and set up AIDS treatment points, built 5 rooms, and equipped with doctors and nurses.

A Diagnostic Table of HIV/AIDS in Rural Areas of Henan Province shows that Yang Shoufa may be infected by "donating blood" and may be infected in "1992". Yang Shoufa recalled that at that time, he was fined for exceeding his life, and his family’s economy was tight. He sold blood once, 50 yuan. "It’s too scary to smoke two big bags at a time, and I dare not sell it again."

According to the zhenping county Municipal Health Bureau, Yang Shoufa’s blood sampling date was December 15th, 2003, the initial screening positive date was January 18th, 2004, and the date of diagnosis (note: check the initial screening positive blood samples with different reagents) was June 23rd, 2004. "After the diagnosis, the staff of the county Chinese medicine hospital conducted an epidemiological case investigation and included it in patient management."

  "Being shunned like a plague"

After receiving the notice, Yang Shoufa said that he wanted to commit suicide many times, and his heart was crushed by fear.

Previously, Yang Shoufa was in great health, and he could load a car with stones every day. Later, after doing a little work, I felt pain all over. He thinks that he needs nutrition, "I don’t know which day he will live", and he eats meat crazily every day, sometimes he can eat a chicken at one meal.

Yang Shoufa didn’t dare to tell his family. At that time, the eldest daughter and eldest son who had dropped out of school followed their wives who were working in Sichuan, and only the second son was studying in Zhenping. Yang Bao (a pseudonym), the 15-year-old eldest son, once went home and accidentally turned to Yang Shoufa’s treatment book and told his mother.

There are no secrets in the village. A bunch of people were gossiping. As soon as Yang Shoufa arrived, people walked away. Slowly, Yang Shoufa broke off contacts with relatives and friends, and never participated in weddings and funerals in the village. When I got home, I put the gate on top.

"Listening to the child say that her father has AIDS, this disease sounds terrible." Yang Shoufa’s wife, Li Li (a pseudonym), never went back to Zhenping until she sued for divorce in 2010. However, due to Yang’s illness, the zhenping county court did not decide to divorce. In July 2011, Li Li sued for divorce again. Finally, the zhenping county court decided to grant the divorce.

Children seldom come back and seldom make phone calls. "I don’t want to contact them either." Asked why, Yang Shoufa was silent.

"Can you stay healthy after taking medicine for 10 years?"

Taking medicine every day, Yang Shoufa’s health is getting worse and worse.

In summer, he wore a thick coat and was "as cold as a sieve". In winter, you can’t hide under the covers, you have to warm yourself in the yard, and your new shoes have been burnt twice. Trembling hands, head covering, buzzing ears, blurred eyes and poor memory.

In September 2012, Yang Shoufa was seriously ill and went to the First People’s Hospital of Nanyang City for treatment. "I didn’t dare to say it was AIDS." The next day, he got the test results and couldn’t understand what HIV antibody negative meant. The doctor said, "It means no AIDS."

"How is that possible? !” Yang Shoufa was surprised.

This examination also found out that Yang Shoufa suffered from esophagitis, erosive hemorrhagic gastritis, cholecystitis, prostatic hyperplasia and other diseases.

Yang Shoufa went to the AIDS treatment point in Shilizhuang Village for consultation. Zhang Qinze, the person in charge, said that he might have been taking anti-HIV drugs and the test results were not accurate. Subsequently, Yang Shoufa stopped taking drugs and went to several hospitals for examination within two years. The results were all negative.

"If you are not sick but have taken medicine for 10 years, can your body not collapse?" Yang Shoufa said that seeing a doctor all the year round spent all his savings.

In March 2016, in the suburban township government, the staff of zhenping county CDC and County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine had negotiated with Yang Shoufa and his nephew about compensation. "They said that 100,000 yuan could not be paid, so I turned my head and left." Yang Shoufa said. Around May 10th, the village party secretary asked Yang Shoufa if he could compensate 250,000 yuan. If not, he could sue. "My life was ruined, and they only lost 1.2 million yuan!" Yang Shoufa said.

Although it has been confirmed that it was misdiagnosed, Yang Shoufa has not come out of the shadow of AIDS, and his life is still very closed.

In addition, things have not been solved for a long time, there is no money at home, two sons are not young yet married, and they are in poor health and can’t do anything, which makes Yang Shoufa very worried. In the past two years, he often drinks because of boredom, but he can’t drink well and gets drunk once or twice.

Last year, Yang Shoufa drank five bottles of cheap white wine, two of which were exchanged by posting advertisements on tricycles.

Yang Shoufa once claimed to be "born as a death row". He said that today, he still can’t see hope, and he lives "people are not like people, ghosts are not like ghosts."

  ■ ask questions

  Why draw blood every year?

  Didn’t find the misdiagnosis?

The staff of the AIDS Prevention Office of zhenping county CDC said that after the diagnosis of AIDS, the annual examination will no longer be HIV screening, but only CD4 (note: the target of HIV attack is immune cell CD4, so its test results play an important role in judging the treatment effect of AIDS), liver function and renal function, so it can’t be checked out.

  Retained blood in that year

  Why is it positive?

On November 10, 2015, the zhenping county Municipal Health Bureau reported that on July 15, Yang Shoufa asked for HIV antibody testing, and the result was negative, but the blood sample test result of Yang Shoufa retained in 2003 was still positive; The health department of zhenping county attaches great importance to it and will apply to the higher authorities for DNA comparison. On May 12th, 2016, the deputy director of zhenping county CDC said that DNA was not detected because the blood samples were stored for too long. Guo Jiantao, the director, said that because the blood sample is stored in plasma, there is no effective component in it, and DNA cannot be extracted.
