For the first time, the number of papers in the most influential journals in China ranks first in the world.

  China Institute of Science and Technology Information released a statistical report on China’s scientific papers today. According to the report, the number of papers in the most influential journals in various disciplines in China ranks first in the world for the first time, and the number of papers in high-level international journals and the number of citations rank first in the world.

  Journals with the highest impact factors in all disciplines can be regarded as the most influential journals in all disciplines in the world. In 2022, there were 159 high-impact journals in 178 disciplines, and the total number of papers in the most influential journals in various disciplines in 2022 was 54,002. The number of papers published in these journals in China is 16,349, accounting for 30.3% of the world’s total, surpassing the United States to rank first in the world for the first time.

  Journals with the influence factors and total cited times of each discipline living in the top 10% of the discipline, and with more than 50 academic papers and review articles published each year, are selected as representative scientific journals of various disciplines in the world, and the papers published on them belong to high-level international journals. In 2022, a total of 371 international sci-tech journals were selected as representative sci-tech journals of various disciplines in the world, and 348,600 high-level international journal papers were published. According to the statistical analysis of the first author and the first unit, China has published 93,600 high-level international journal papers, accounting for 26.9% of the world total, and the number of citations is 649,600, ranking first in the world in both the number of papers published and the number of citations.

  In 2022, there were 16 international journals that were cited more than 100,000 times and had an impact factor of more than 30. In 2022, 28,400 papers were published, among which China published 1,140 academic papers and review articles, ranking second in the world, which was the same as in 2021.
