Ministry of Industry and Information Technology： The software business income in the first quarter was 2006 billion yuan, up 11.6% year-on-year.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the economic operation of the software industry in the first quarter of 2022. In the first quarter, China’s software and information technology service industry (hereinafter referred to as "software industry") operated steadily, with double-digit growth in software business income, narrowing the decline in total profits and slowing down the growth rate of software business exports.
I. Overall operation
Software business revenue maintained steady growth.In the first quarter, China’s software business revenue was 2,006 billion yuan, up 11.6% year-on-year, and the growth rate was the same as that in January and February, which was 2.7 percentage points higher than the two-year average growth rate in the same period of 2020 and 2021.

The decline in total profits narrowed.In the first quarter, the total profit of the software industry was 203.1 billion yuan, down 3.9% year-on-year, and the decline was 3.7 percentage points narrower than that in January-February.

The export growth rate of software business slowed down.In the first quarter, the export of software business was US$ 11.6 billion, up 4.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 2.8 percentage points compared with that in January and February. Among them, the export of outsourced services increased by 14.1% year on year.

Second, the sub-field operation
Revenue growth of software products picked up.In the first quarter, the revenue of software products was 509.7 billion yuan, up 9.8% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 0.8 percentage point higher than that in January-February, accounting for 25.4% of the industry’s revenue. Among them, the income from industrial software products was 51.4 billion yuan, up 12.1% year-on-year; Basic software revenue increased by 9.5% year-on-year.
The growth rate of information technology service income is outstanding.In the first quarter, information technology service revenue was 1,310.2 billion yuan, up 13.7% year-on-year, 2.1 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the whole industry, accounting for 65.3% of the total revenue of the whole industry. Among them, cloud computing and big data services realized a total revenue of 205.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%, accounting for 15.7% of information technology service revenue; The revenue from integrated circuit design was 53.8 billion yuan, up 17.2% year-on-year; The technical service income of e-commerce platform was 191.6 billion yuan, up 19.7% year-on-year; The service revenue of industrial Internet platform increased by 17.4% year-on-year.
Revenue from information security products and services has accelerated.In the first quarter, the revenue from information security products and services was 33.8 billion yuan, up 12.9% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 1.5 percentage points higher than that in January and February.
The growth rate of embedded system software revenue dropped.In the first quarter, the revenue of embedded system software was 152.2 billion yuan, up 0.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 7.5 percentage points compared with January-February.

Third, the operation by region
The income of the software industry in the eastern region has increased steadily, and the growth in the central and western regions is outstanding.In the first quarter, the revenue from software business in the eastern region was 1,656.5 billion yuan, up 10.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 0.1 percentage point compared with that in January and February. The revenue from software business in the central region was 66.6 billion yuan, up 14.7% year-on-year, which was 3.1 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the whole industry. The revenue from software business in the western region was 247.2 billion yuan, up 18.2% year-on-year, 6.6 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the whole industry; The revenue from software business in Northeast China was 35.6 billion yuan, up 2.4% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 4.4 percentage points compared with January-February. The software business income in the four regions accounted for 82.6%, 3.3%, 12.3% and 1.8% of the total national income respectively.

The proportion of business income in major software provinces declined slightly.In the first quarter, among the top five provinces in terms of software revenue, the software revenues of Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai were 439.5 billion yuan, 378.5 billion yuan, 280.6 billion yuan, 172.6 billion yuan and 164.8 billion yuan, respectively, increasing by 13.2%, 6.1%, 10.5%, 5.4% and 17.6%.

The revenue growth of software business in central cities has slowed down, and the total profit is still negative.In the first quarter, the software business income of 15 sub-provincial central cities nationwide was 1,039.7 billion yuan, up by 8.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 0.7 percentage points compared with that of January-February, accounting for 51.8% of the national software business income, down by 1.6 percentage points compared with the same period last year. Among them, the growth rate of software business income in eight cities, including Ningbo, Jinan, Xiamen, Xi ‘an, Guangzhou, Dalian, Wuhan and Qingdao, exceeded the overall growth rate of the whole industry. The total profit was 108.7 billion yuan, down 11.9% year-on-year.
