BMW participated in China International Import Expo(CIIE) for five times, and supported the win-win cooperation between China and Germany.

On the evening of November 4th, the 5th China International Import Expo opened in Shanghai. As a multinational company exhibiting for five consecutive years, BMW made its debut this year with pure electric products, including: innovative BMW iX, innovative BMW i4, and innovative BMW i7, the world’s first pure electric luxury flagship sedan, which demonstrated BMW’s determination and achievements in accelerating its electric transformation. The exhibition area of BMW iFACTORY is also a highlight of this year’s BMW booth. As the future-oriented production strategy of BMW Group, BMW iFACTORY sets a new benchmark for automobile production from three aspects: "lean, green and digital". At present, BMW iFACTORY has landed in Shenyang production base, and BMW will continue to help upgrade China’s manufacturing industry and promote the development of automobile industry.

Chairman of BMW Group Ziptzer

As a member of the delegation of German enterprises, the chairman of BMW Group Chipzer, who accompanied German Chancellor Scholcz to China, said: "China International Import Expo(CIIE) shows China’s attitude of promoting high-level opening to the outside world and plays an important role in promoting economic globalization and trade liberalization. This year coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany. BMW Group is proud to contribute to the successful cooperation between the two countries. Innovation and trade are the ties of economic development. China and Germany have great potential in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting pragmatic cooperation. I believe this partnership will be further consolidated, developed and deepened. We look forward to more cooperation opportunities in the future. "

Accelerate the transformation of electrification

Build more "green" BMW electric cars

Electrification has become one of the mainstream trends in the development of automobile industry. In recent years, BMW has continued to accelerate the transformation of electrification, constantly bringing attractive new products to customers. This year, there are five pure electric vehicles in China market: innovative BMW iX, innovative BMW i4, innovative BMW iX3, new BMW i3 and innovative BMW i7. In the first nine months of this year, BMW Group’s sales of pure electric vehicles in China increased by 65% year-on-year, maintaining a strong momentum.

Next, BMW will further strengthen the offensive of electric products. 2025 will be an important node of BMW Group’s electrification strategy, when it will usher in a "new generation" product array. The "new generation" models will have completely redesigned IT and software architecture, a new generation of high-performance electric drive systems and batteries, and a new concept of sustainability throughout the whole vehicle life cycle, especially giving priority to the use of recycled materials and advocating circular economy. By the end of 2025, BMW Group plans to deliver 2 million pure electric vehicles worldwide. It is estimated that by 2030, at least 50% of the Group’s global sales will come from pure electric vehicles. With the development of electric transformation, BMW adheres to the concept of circular carbon reduction and will bring more "green" electric vehicles to consumers.

BMW is willing to take "industrial meta-universe"

Support the high-quality development of China manufacturing industry.

The transformation of production network in the electric age is equally important. In the first half of this year, BMW Group promoted the future-oriented BMW iFACTORY production strategy in Europe and China simultaneously. On June 23rd, the large-scale upgrading project of BMW Brilliance’s production base (referred to as Rida Factory) was officially opened. This is the first BMW iFACTORY completed and put into production by BMW Group in the world. The total investment of this project is RMB 15 billion, which is the largest single investment ever made by BMW in China market, and once again fulfills the promise of BMW Group that "its home is in China".

BMW iFACTORY is the overall plan of BMW Group for future automobile production. It determines the future direction of the group’s factory and production technology, and sets a new benchmark for automobile production from three aspects: "lean, green and digital". Rida factory is the best example of iFACTORY’s production strategy. It is guided by electric driving behavior, widely applies data science, artificial intelligence and virtualization technology in production, and emphasizes the sustainable manufacturing of automobiles.

Rida Factory is the first factory of BMW Group to plan and simulate completely in virtual environment from the beginning of design. From factory planning, architectural design, production line layout to equipment debugging, digital twin models were created and simulated on the powerful Epic Games unreal engine 3D creation platform, and a real "industrial meta-universe" factory was built. In addition, the factory is "data-driven" and connects every product, every process and every employee with the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), thus realizing high-quality and high-efficiency digital production. Artificial intelligence, data analysis and algorithms are widely used, which transform decision-making from "experience-driven" to "data-driven". At present, BMW Shenyang production base has about 100 kinds of artificial intelligence applications.

It is worth mentioning that "BMW Start-up Garage", an innovation incubator of BMW Group, once again participated in China International Import Expo(CIIE), advocating the opening and cooperation in the field of innovation. In the "Innovation Incubation Zone", this year, the booth area of the automobile sector in charge of BMW’s start-up garage has expanded to 200 square meters, with 17 start-ups from Germany, the United States, Switzerland, Israel, Malaysia and Hong Kong, China bringing wonderful displays. The technology application fields cover autonomous driving, electric travel, future computing and intelligent manufacturing.

"BMW Start-up Garage" was established by BMW Group in 2015. In China, "BMW Start-up Garage" provides China start-up companies with the top development platform and first-class global resources in the automotive industry through systematic selection and incubation, and promotes the commercial application of innovative technologies.
